Enrico Spacone

Enrico Spacone is a Professor of Structural Engineering at the University of Chieti-Pescara. His professional activities are in the area of structural engineering, structural modeling and earthquake engineering. He has been involved with the seismic vulnerability assessment of strategic structures, and with the strengthening of existing structures.

His scientific activities center around the nonlinear modeling and analysis (both static and dynamic) of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, steel-concrete and timber structures. More specifically, he has developed several nonlinear frame elements (force-based, displacement-based, and mixed) for reinforced concrete, steel and steel-concrete frames. He has also worked on the nonlinear modeling of steel, concrete and bond of steel and FRP reinforcement embedded in concrete.
He has produced a large number of publications, including over thirty reviewed papers in international journals. Since 1995 he has managed several research programs, first in the USA and currently in Italy.

He is a faculty and member of the Scientific Committee and International Advisory Board at the Rose School (Centre for Post-Graduate Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology) of the University of Pavia. He teaches at the MIA (Master of Earthquake Engineering) of the University of l’Aquila, the Master MICA (Innovation in Design, Rehabilitation and Control of Reinforced Concrete Strutures) of the University of Rome III, and the Master MUPAC (Master in Seismic Design of Structures) of the University of Trieste. He is member of the fib Working Party 4.4.7 Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis for Design and Assessment of RC Structures, of the ASCE committees Methods of Analysis and Seismic Effects and Emerging Computing Technologies and member of the scientific committee of international conferences on structural engineering, seismic engineering and structural dynamics.
